Carpet Cleaning Service

At Heartland Steam Cleaning, we use the hot-water extraction (steam cleaning) method in for residential carpet cleaning. There are many different competing cleaning practices, but steam cleaning is widely considered a superior restoration cleaning.

This method outperforms other methods when removing embedded soils and other contaminants that are trapped in your carpet. Steam cleaning is also the preferred carpet cleaning method by many major carpet manufacturers like DuPont and Shaw. Every service includes:

  • Vacuuming
  • Enzyme Pre-Treatment
  • Spotting Stains
  • Hot-Water Extraction With Truck-Mounted Equipment
  • General Deodorizing Treatment
  • Carpet Grooming
  • Air Movers to Speed Dry

How Carpet Steam Cleaning Works

When our professionally trained, uniformed technicians arrive at your home and introduce themselves, they will begin by asking to be escorted throughout the areas to be cleaned. After the pre inspection and answering any questions you may have, the tech will start the cleaning by applying a hot enzyme-based carpet pre-conditioner. Focusing on spots and stains, this treatment is applied everywhere, regardless of level of soiling. This treatment will help break down soils, and loosen oil deposits.

Carpet cleaning before and after

The next step is to move necessary furniture. The furniture pieces are only moved out just enough to expose the areas underneath. Once pulled out, the carpet underneath is thoroughly cleaned and the furniture is moved back to its original position with protective blocks placed underneath the legs to prevent bleeding. All open areas are extracted. When the area is completely cleaned the carpet is then groomed with a carpet rake. This helps the carpet dry faster, and removes cleaning marks. Lastly we setup air movers to speed dry the carpet.

After the cleaning the tech performs a post inspection walk through. The tech will ask the client to inspect the areas to make sure they are completely satisfied. We will not accept your money without your complete satisfaction.

So what is this deodorizing treatment

All carpet and upholstery we clean gets treated with a general deodorizer. The treatment is not just a fragrance applied after the cleaning, but an actual odor counteractant chemically designed to attack and destroy odors. It's pet and kid safe and completely non-toxic.

The smell is not overbearing or unpleasant. In most cases it will dissipate within a day. It's specifically designed to neutralize odors during the cleaning. Although it can get rid of pet odors we do not guarantee pet odor removal with just basic carpet cleaning and general deodorizing. See below for more info on pet urine contamination.

Optional Services

Pet Urine Contamination

moisture probe detecting pet urine

All carpet and upholstery we clean is deodorized at absolutely no charge. And even though the deodorizer treatments we use are powerful odor killing enzymes, sometimes just a simple clean and deodorize treatment won't eliminate pet odors. Pet stain odor is a very common problem that could be much more complex than on first impression. Pet urine can easily soak through the backing of the carpet and into the padding underneath. In more severe cases the urine can penetrate into the sub-floor beneath the padding, this creates a problem that is multi-layered, and to remove the odor, each layers needs to be treated.

The urine also provides for the growth of bacteria. This in turn contributes to a worsening of the odor problem and can contribute to permanent color loss of the carpet fiber. To eliminate this problem, the urine must be removed or neutralized from each of the layers affected. If the contamination is limited to only the face yarn of the carpet then the cleaning itself may effectively remove the odor. In more severe case where urine has penetrated the carpet padding we can provide a service called a "pet flush." This process consists of flushing out the carpet and padding with enzymes and odor-counteractants. A pet flush covers about an 18" diameter spot. If the pet urine can be identified, this service is a great way to remove pet odors in those sub-surface areas. If an entire room is contaminated with pet urine, it might be actually cheaper to replace than clean and treat. For pet flush costs please call us at (913) 210-1774

Carpet Protection

A great way to keep the carpet cleaner, for longer is to have it treated with carpet protection. All carpet when manufactured has a protective coating applied. Eventually this wears away and it's left with no repellency. As your carpet starts to age you lose protection because the protective coating that acts as an invisible shield will wear away. This coating is commonly referred to as “scotch guarding.” This phrase is just a household brand or nickname consumers are familiar with. It’s a good idea to have this re applied after professionally cleaning the carpet because it will repel wet and dry soils, and the scotch guarding applied during the manufacturing process will only last so long. We apply this through a pressurized water line after the cleaning is completely finished. This is charged per area, at $15 per area. This is not an all-or-nothing service. You can have it applied in one room, or all rooms.
